On our trip up the California coast, we were so lucky to have stumbled upon the recently renovated Bernardus Lodge. Tucked away in Carmel Valley away from the hustle and bustle of Carmel-by-the-sea and Pebble Beach, we found Bernardus a great place to just slow down and enjoy the beautiful landscape of the Valley.
Bernardus has its own Vineyard and they happily shared before we even checked in. The lobby was tastefully elegant, without being stuffy – a bit of an updated rustic California feel. Our room was spacious and comfortable and Restoration Hardware products were evident throughout the bedroom and bath. The rustic woods and metals were the perfect backdrop to the beautiful view from our secluded patio.
A walk through the gardens was a treat and the vegetable and herb gardens were just beginning to produce – kudos for Bernardus’ sustainable use of their space! Since it was only a one night stop on our drive up the coast, I wish we had more time to enjoy this hidden gem in the Carmel Valley!
